Project Spotlight: Hermione Voyage 2015
In 2015, the Hermione, a replica of the frigate that brought Lafayette to America in support of the American fight for independence during the Revolutionary War, set sail for the United States in an effort to remind Americans of the spirit of friendship that had then joined France to this country and to bring the history of that relationship to life. Helen Miller Advisors was involved in many aspects of the Hermione’s epic voyage up the Atlantic coast, including port calls in Alexandria, New York City (over the 4th of July weekend), and Newport. HMA was directly involved in arranging all aspects of the Hermione’s visit to her last U.S. port-of-call in Castine, Maine on Bastille Day, including a parade of ships up Penobscot Bay and town festivities that continue to be celebrated annually on the Bastille Day anniversary of the Hermione’s visit.
